NERDY TIME: iPhone 6 Review

http://cdn.wonderfulengineering.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/iphone6_screen-5.jpg

Just a few weeks ago, the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ was released. The new iPhone is thinner, sleeker and slightly faster compared to its older models.

The new iPhone is available at 16gig, 64gig and 128 gig capacities. They run with A8 chip with 64bit architecture running in speeds ranging from 600 GHz up to more than 1.0 Ghz and M8 motion co processor. It has a new iSight camera with 1.5µ pixels. It can record videos with 1080p HD video recording (30 fps or 60 fps). It also has a FaceTime HD camera which produces 1.2 megapixel images and 720p HD videos. It also has a fingerprint identity sensor built in the phone’s home button. The sight of these specs make the iPhone users drool over this shiny new gadget.

It’s also durable; to prove this point here’s PhoneBuff with his drop test.

But let’s face the facts here, nothing is perfect. So to balance out the compliments lets look t the flaws of the new iPhone series.

Reports said that the iPhone 6, due to its new iOS drain more power than the other versions of iPhone. The power users of the said phone stated that the battery life drains out even before lunch. The pones screen is shatter proof but not technically break proof and may be less durable than its young versions. One-hand use is also not applicable while using iPhone 6 plus. Its larger screen makes it awkwardly uncomfortable for its users. And its greatest flaw of all is its malleability. The iPhone six plus (and sometimes iPhone six) can be bent. To prove this Unbox therapy will give you the bend test.

I am  not an iPhone user or even an iPhone fan, so I have no authority to call the judgement upon this gadget. But using the fact that ijust presented to all of you, I leave the judgement to you geeksters, with sharper eyes and brain than me. GEEK OUT!

GAMER EYE: Destiny Review

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/be/Destiny_box_art.png

I know that all of you gamers out there have already played or at least heard about the game “Destiny”. Destiny is a RPG, FPS/3rd Person war game which involves finishing missions and leveling up. The game was made by the guys who brought us the HALO franchise which makes us expect so much out of it. The story line of the game is pretty much a cliché for all of us and I’ll leave that for you guys to find out why.

https://shinigaming.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/destinyguardians.jpg

The game has 3 character classes to choose from; the Hunter, the Titan and the Warlock classes. Each of them has their own set abilities and attributes but the players will still have the same weapons except for the grenades. You could also choose from 3 races: the Awoken, Humas and Exos. The characters are also costumizable so it would be easy for the players to immerse themselves in the game.

There are also 3 gaming experiences that you could try: the campaign, crucible and strike missions. Everybody knows how the campaign works every game has one of those; strike missions on the other hand is the co-op version of it. The crucible however is the multiplayerarena that will be unlocked after you have reached level five. However, all of these gaming modes will require you to be connected to the internet, even the campaign mode. The campaign is also disappointing; all of the missions are redundant which makes you feel like playing candy crush on steroids.

The enemies disappoint me though; compared to HALO’s AIs, the enemies on Destiny act like retarded twins of Timmy from South Park. They have very obvious range and area restrictions and they do not have complex reactions and battle sequences. The bosses also have very predictable move sets and they all have the same models with very few differences in color and sizes.

Over-all, this game’s game-play is terrible. The only good points it has are in the field of character customization, the crucible and the 3rd person view. The graphics are also excellent, but it still went to waste because of its boring and redundant game experience. The GEEK’S GAMER'S EYE WOULD JUDGE THIS 5 OUT OF 10.

Nerdy Time: Intel i7Series Review

I’ve been hearing so much buzz about the Intel i7 processor series here in our school so I decided to do some research and tried to look for some i7 processor units in stores to understand why nerds and gamers alike are so excited about it. After taking down some notes and harsh deliberations I finally made myself a review of it.

The said processor, popularly known for the name “Haswell-E” has an 8 core design and has a built in GPU which allows it to process possibly more things at once quickly and with better quality. It is also compatible with the first DDR4 RAMs that are very visually appealing especially for people who treat System Unit building as an art. It has more cores, more cache and high speed I/O ports.

This was made possible because of Haswell-E’s microarchitecture which fits two Ivy bridge-E processors into one little bomb.  It can process 5-10% more instructions that the previous processor models and have better voltage regulation. Shirking the cores also gives more space for the cache and more fire power. It has PCI 3.0 with a maximum of 16 lanes dedicated for graphics cards which make it possible for you to have 5 high powered graphics cards at once!

But there are still some flaws in this series. The i7-5960 for example has traded its clock speed to accommodate the maximum capabilities of a Haswell-E chip; which has 8 cores and 16 PCI lanes. i7-5930k was almost perfect but it has 2 cores less than his big brother mentioned earlier. The i7-5820k was the worst of the bunch. It has lost two PCI lanes for the sake of clock speed and X99 chipset compatibility making it lose its dual graphic card capabilities.

I personally think that Intel should stop pushing the capabilities of the Haswell-E design and start moving forward. Although the i7-3820 up to i7-4790 core were the best processors made by Intel so far in the i7 series. They should still consider the limits of their latest chip microarchitecture.

That’s all for now, I still have to enjoy my i5-2500. GEEK OUT!

Changes

Hey geeks! Rannie here, and i'm finally back from my bloggers block! Don't be shocked if some of you won't find my old URL (aacbyraj.blospot.com) because I made some changes on my blog. It's actually really obvious and I don't need to point out everything.

I made these changes because in month from now I will finally have my access to google adsense. And I will take this blogging thing professionally and seriously. I know blogs are super outdated but I hope some of you would still support me and join my geeks community and I won't hesitate to support your community as well. That's all for now, GEEK OUT!
