Movie Watch: Begin Again

Meet Gretta (Keira Knightley), and watch as she moves to New York with her boyfriend/songwriting partner, Dave (Adam Levine) as he scores a deal with a major record label. But,with his new-found fame, Dave eventually changes and leaves the poor Gretta heartbroken.

But lady luck smiles upon Gretta as she meets Dan (Mark Ruffalo), a disgraced record label executive, who offers her a chance to make an album after he sees her raw talent.

Prepare your eardrums for some serious singing action because this movie will supply you of about a week’s worth of songs that you can’t get off your head.

And for the fellas, prepare to fall in love with Keira Knightly and her surprisingly sweet singing voice. But let’s not forget the ladies. We got a full serving of one Mister Adam Levine hot and ready to go. (The only beef I have with Adam in this film is that Damn-awful mustache he grows in one scene. Seriously , its horrendous).

But let’s not forget Mark Ruffalo , watch him play a character with skills like – sucking at his job, sucking as a father, sucking as a husband, be an alcoholic, and make other people pay for his beers.

But on a serious note though, this movie is amazeballs. It’s definitely high on my list of movies, and that’s a hard list to get on.The songs are quite catchy and well written (I even downloaded the OST and I’m listening to it right now).

Admittedly, it is kinda of a chick-flick, but I could see a lot of guys enjoying this movie.

So, if you’re on a date or just looking for a nice romantic movie to watch, this one is definitely worth checking out.

Movie Watch: Scott Pilgrim vs the World

If you’re a fan of video games, graphic novels, and just good movies on general, then this movie is for you.

Meet Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), a bass guitarist in a small band called Sex Bob-omb and watch as  he struggles through the basic problems of modern day teenagers – having one of the most abnoxious (but quite awesome) gay roommate, a gossipy sister, a Catholic school attending-Asian-hint of crazy-younger girlfriend, a super famous ex-girlfriend. You know, just the average stuff.

But when you think things can’t get any worse, he meets the most amazing girl. Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). Things quickly escalate as Scott finds out that in order for him to date Ramona in peace is by vanquishing her SEVEN EVIL EXES (dun dun dunn….).

From the thought-fridge of one of the most renowned filmmakers, Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) comes the witty movie that combines elements from the things most of us geeks love – cool retro game music, boss battles, and phrases that will have you quoting for weeks.

So, if you’re looking for a good movie to watch, I definitely recommend checking this out.

Geek news: Indies!

Good day geeksters!

So I stumbled upon a website that showcases Indie games! I've tried so many cool indie games before but this will be my first time to review indie games. If there are any geeksters (or any one for that matter) out there who knows how to rate indie games please comment your experience and tips. I could really use some community help. I also got my Five Nights at Freddy's 2 copy and I'm currently playing it. So pray sfor the salvation of my soul.

That's all for now geeksters and for the ones who are not geeksters yet, be part of the geekster community and follow my blog. Being a part of the community will help me and inspire me on making more game reviews and gadget news.

Gamer eye: The Evil Within

This game is twisted! This is one of the most psychological and horrific games I have played my entire life. In this game you play as Sebastian. He is a stereotypical alcoholic detective who responded to a call to capture an admitted patient in. Everything went crazy in just a few seconds just after you and your partners Kidman and Joseph entered the said asylum. Then everything went from crazy to totally insane after that.

This game was made by Shinji Mikami, the dubbed king of survival horror, the one who made the resident evil franchise. He made this game as a redeeming factor after his considered fail in resident evil 4. And as far as I’m concerned I think he has redeemed it pretty well. The game mechanic is so challenging and items are so rare that you’ll jump for joy each time you pick up any type of item, especially ammo and the unique green juice used for upgrading your stats.

Speaking about upgrading, the upgrade mechanic of the game is also unique. Green juice than can be acquired all around the map can e picked up and can be traded for damage upgrades, ammo capacities and abilities (no magic powers, just plain human abilities, such as health bars upgrades and sprit duration). You have to choose wisely though because there is no such thing as a reset stat or roll back upgrades in this game.

The weapons of this game are pretty standard: revolvers, shotguns, and a sniper. But the most unique weapon of them all is the agony crossbow. The agony crossbow can shoot bolts of different varieties that have different effects against your enemies. But there is always a right bolt for the right enemy so you have to use them wisely.

I love the graphics of the game and its mechanics. But what I don’t like is the story. It’s pretty complex and confusing. The game makes you jump from one place to another just because one N.P.C. shouts or cries and when you don’t pay attention you might ask yourself “Why?” The game makes you jump from reality from another that it seems to lose all connection. Even when you get to the last boss fight you would still get confused.

In conclusion, this game is fairly good. I play games for the plot and the challenge, visual appeal is subjective. But this game is still a good play.

Geek Spot: Boku no Hero Academia

Rise up shone geeks because after Naruto,  a new hero to love and admire for his silly antics and explosive power!

His name is Midoriya as Tsuna-like weakling who dream on going to an academy that specializes on training kids with special powers called “QUIRKS”. Midoriya starts a weakling who has no super power at all and is constantly bullied by his other classmates in high school.

But as weak as he seems, he has a heart of a real hero. He dives in action when someone is n distress just to help even though he knows he is not capable of helping any one in his current status. But then he stumbled upon a hero he idolized so much: the hero “All Might”.

I won’t spoil the story for you, even though I might already have. But one thing is for sure. This series will take up the mantle Naruto has left. Everybody is expecting so much out of this series I hope it wont fail.

Join me in following this Midoriya’s story dear geeksters! GEEK OUT!

Gamer Eye: Five Nights at Freddy’s 2

The sensational and epic indie horror game is back with more scare at its sleeve as Scott Cawthon adds more animatronics and new twists in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2!

The game is very different from what it was before. Aside from the fact that you are still a fat night watchman at a pizzeria Cawthon changed everything. He started with the thing that gave the gamers all the sense of comfort in the first game: the DOORS. In this game you can’t hide behind blast proof doors anymore. To protect yourself you have to hide inside a Freddy Fazbear skin and play dead in order to live. Sadly it doesn't work on everyone. And when I say everyone, I mean 10 animatronics excluding Golden Freddy.

Freddy and his crew had a makeover in the new game. They were upgraded and remodeled for the purpose of making them “Child Friendly”. It is true that they now look more visually appealing (except for foxy 2.0 whose as scary as F***!). As for our old friends; well, they never left. Their junk parts are still lying around the pizzeria, torn apart but even more terrifying.

The game hasn’t been our yet. But I hope to play it soon for a better review, GEEK OUT!

Gamer Eye: Spiral Knights

Looking for a game that looks cute and has bad ass effects at the same time? Spiral knight may be the right one for you! Spiral knight are robot like humanoid creatures with knightly valor and fully customizable features that you could play as for enjoyment.

This game has been around for awhile now. But the new and updated version of it caught my interest especially on the side of character customization. You can choose different costumes apart from the knight’s armor and even use badass swords, guns and bombs against the deadly creature of clockworks.

This game was made by SEGA, and they didn’t disappoint! The made this game to match anybody’s taste. It has an astonishing visual appeal and has amazing and challenging game play. The story line is also very interesting. All the knights on this online world take part of it individually but can do the missions with a party of four people. This makes boss fighting, farming and grinding a lot more fun than the usual MMO games.

The downside is that the enemies have almost the same faces and almost the same attack patterns. If you are able to memorize the move set of a mob with one color the other colors of that mode surely has the same move set with a minor adjustment in effects. But this factor is redeemed by the boss battles that are very complicated, fun and intellectually challenging.

I’m playing this game right now by the way. So if you are reading this, try shouting GEEEKSTERS if I’ll ever catch you I’ll say hi and would gladly become your friend.
